My second campaign pillar focuses on strict fiscal responsibility, absolute tax transparency, and proactive code enforcement to ensure your tax dollars are treated with respect. I believe a city cannot invest in its future without a clear, public map of its present finances.

My fiscal plan introduces rigid oversight for major development projects, demands localized ordinance compliance to prevent neighborhood blight, and establishes a concrete roadmap for federal funding.

Complete Tax Transparency & Impact Planning

You have a right to know exactly where every dollar goes. I am committed to making city financial records clear, easy to access, and understandable for every resident.

Accessible Financial Reporting: I will advocate for regular, simplified public summaries of the city's revenue flows and expenditures so you do not have to dig through complex government jargon to see how tax dollars are spent.
Fiscal-Impact Forecasts: Every future municipal plan or capital investment shall require a publicly posted financial impact study before the commission takes a vote.

Uniform Ordinance Compliance & Neighborhood Preservation

A beautiful city requires holding everyone to the same standards. I will strengthen local accountability to ensure our residential and business corridors never fall into disrepair due to uneven code enforcement.

Proactive Code Enforcement: I plan to enforce existing property ordinances consistently so that neglected commercial spaces or residential plots do not drag down neighboring property values.
Fair Business Inspections: I will ensure all local businesses completely comply with city safety codes, licensing fees, and operational ordinances, protecting the fair market for those who play by the rules.

Evaluating the Proposed Police Training Facility

The proposed Middletown Law Enforcement Training Center is a major venture with state funding for only the initial construction that demands strict financial viability before moving forward. Residents deserve a clear picture of the project’s full financial commitment, not just construction costs, but long-term maintenance, staffing, insurance, utilities and other operating expenses.

Viability Audits: It is incredibly important to collaborate with other local municipalities to develop the agreements and funding structure for shared use of this space. Without those plans in place, this can turn into a liability for the taxpayers within this community.
Cost-Overrun Protections: I will insist on contractual cost-caps to guarantee that Middletown taxpayers are not left on the hook for construction delays or compounding operational maintenance fees that go in excess of what was funded from the state.

Maximizing Federal Funds: The Wetherby Park Spending Plan

Thanks to a federal line-item addition in H.R. 9170, our city is anxiously awaiting appropriations to be approved for $500,000 in Community Project Funding explicitly for Wetherby Park Redevelopment and Expansion.

Zero-Waste Allocation: I will introduce a comprehensive, line-by-line master plan to ensure every dollar of this $500,000 allocation goes straight into tangible park upgrades—such as public restrooms, walking paths, and features that can be used by various age groups—rather than disappearing into administrative overhead.
Public Project Oversight: I will establish clear, accessible progress reports so the community can watch the Wetherby Park project move from design to breaking ground without wasting federal tax dollars.
